End Fixed Term Contract in Workday

The End Fixed Term Contract task is used by the University to end its employment relationship with a fixed term staff. The End Fixed Term Contract Separation should only be used to separate a fixed term staff on the actual “end of fixed term contract”. Managers or manager supports (Security Role) can initiate the End Fixed Term Contract Separation process. TCS may also initiate the End Fixed Term Separation process as a backup.
 

Important Note: Before ending a fixed-term contract in Workday, please ensure you have completed the steps below.  

  1. Meet with the Fixed-Term Staff Member: Schedule a brief (10-minute) one-on-one meeting to verbally inform your staff member of the Fixed Term Contract decision before entering it in Workday.
  2. Non-Renewal email to be sent to the staff member: In the case of ending a fixed term contract, populate the template email and send it to the staff member, cc’ing hr.servicecentre@sydney.edu.au 
  3. Enter the decision in Workday: This action will trigger an automated notification to the staff member, so it’s essential they are informed beforehand. To do this, follow the steps in the article below. 
  4. Support Available: The University offers free and confidential counselling, coaching and support to all staff and their family members, provided by Converge International.
