Thommy manages the university’s portfolio of international agreements, with a particular focus on agreements that formalise the university’s education, student mobility and general partnerships. Thommy works closely with faculties to support focused and strategic international engagement, and he has a keen interest in partnership evaluation and benchmarking. A recent focus for Thommy has been on securing joint PhD (Cotutelle) and dual degree arrangements with key university partners. With a background in legal private practice, Thommy holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Technology, Sydney and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Queensland.

How do I submit my timesheet? (Casual Professional Staff)

Who does this apply to?

This guide is for use by Casual Professional staff:

  • employed under Schedule 4 of the Enterprise Agreement (EA), working 35 hours per week.
  • employed under Schedule 4 of the EA, working 38 hours per week
  • employed under Schedule 7 of the EA, working 38 hours per week.

It provides information to submit timesheets for job holders with one or more active roles within the University.

When do I use this timesheet?

This timesheet is to be completed when claiming all hours worked.

You can complete your timesheet via MyHROnline following the instructions below.

Who does this not cover?

Academic roles, fixed term and continuing professional staff, all Shift Workers, those employees with seasonal/annualised flexible work agreements under EA clause 174 (b), Laboratory Animal Services, Vet Hospital and Clinic staff, Centre for Continuing Education, Casual Professional (G35) staff, English Language Teachers and those working under the Live Performance Award.

All timesheets must be submitted AND approved by midday on Friday, the week prior to the pay run. 

Dr. Artem Lensky is an interdisciplinary expert with over 20 years of experience in mathematical modeling, software development, data and signal analysis, and cryptography, with notable projects in defense, healthcare, and industry. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of Ulsan, South Korea, and has pursued advanced studies in Applied Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University. Currently, Dr. Lensky is a Lecturer at UNSW Canberra, where he teaches and conducts research in defense technologies. He also serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, focusing on medical sciences and chemical sensing. As the founder of Lensky Analytics, he leads a private trading engine and provides analytical services across various industries. Dr. Lensky has led significant government-funded projects, including a $500,000 initiative on AI-powered electronic noses for detecting improvised explosive devices, and has contributed extensively to academic literature with publications in machine learning, natural language processing, quantitative finance, neuroscience, and robotics. He is also known for his development of several influential software tools and educational platforms. In addition to his research and development work, Dr. Lensky has a strong background in teaching and curriculum development, supervising multiple Ph.D. and Masters' projects, and engaging in outreach programs for gifted students.

The Office of Clinical Education Support (OCES) works with academic and professional staff in 13 disciplines, spread across 7 faculties to support almost 7,000 students to help them meet the necessary compliance for placements. The OCES is responsible for relationship management including Student Placement Agreements (SPAs), Student Verification and ClinConnect coordination. The OCES is also required to provide ongoing policy, planning and strategic support in terms of student capability and compliance for placements.

Create Job Requisition is a process on the Workday platform that allows you to create a new position and request that it be filled.

This process could be used to create:

  • a vacant position for recruitment;
  • a new position to engage a contingent worker; or
  • a new position to backfill a staff member on secondment while their substantive position is frozen.

Fixed-Term Reason Checklist

Starting 1 November 2025, additional legislative restrictions apply to Fixed-Term employment. Staff are still required to be employed in accordance with one of the categories contained at clause 38 of the University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026.  Valid exceptions are outlined in the table below, including details on any limitations applicable under the Enterprise Agreement and legislation. Additional information may be required to ensure compliance.

Failure to comply with the legislation (Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 (Cth) will result in the end date of the contract being invalid, meaning the staff member being transitioned to a continuing employee status. This will mean employees will become permanent employees and may have additional entitlements to unfair dismissal protections, notice periods and redundancy pay.

Civil penalties apply for breaching the new legislative restrictions.
