Open to all University staff, enjoy a special catering showcase from The Catering Department, and hear presentations from Professor Lucy Marshall (DVC, Community & Leadership), Madeleine Culp (Engagement Specialist – Sustainability) and Ang Taggart.
STEPtember 2026 is back – bigger than ever!
All throughout September, your team (or just you) will track 10,000 steps a day, your way. It's more than just steps – you can convert more than 40 activities including Pilates, cycling, or dancing to win big prizes.
'Lasca' rides again: poetry and passion on the frontier, USA and Australia
Friends of the Library presents a talk by Associate Professor Peter Kirkpatrick, on the enduring influence of Frank Desprez's Lasca, its influence on iconic poems like those by Banjo Paterson, and what it reveals about the frontier affinities between Australia and the United States.
Linking and layering: On the materiality of locality in Fijian fashion design
This talk by Heather A. Horst, Professor of Design Anthropology, focuses upon the ways in which fashion designers materially negotiate location – from social encounters across local, global and online spaces to ancestral connections and atmospheres – into their cultural practice.

Academic staff Career Development Session
Academic staff considering applying for promotion in the next three to five years are encouraged to attend the Career Development Session on 10 September. Colleagues can learn more about academic promotions on the staff intranet, or by contacting the APU.
We have partnered with Canva
Canva is an online graphic design tool, to provide all students with free access to their premium features. Canva Campus will be available from 24 August. Information and support with using the tool will become available on our Apps page next week.
Next week (24–28 August), the University will conduct a Teaching Space Utilisation Audit
This will occur across A22 Old Teachers' College and selected nearby teaching spaces. Student Life Ambassadors will briefly visit teaching rooms to observe and record room occupancy and activity information to help inform planning for the A22 Old Teachers College remediation project. No personal information will be collected, and classes, assessments and examinations will not be interrupted. Further information is available on the campus updates intranet page with a summary of activity available on the Semester Readiness page.
