The Great Hall Book Fair

This is the third year that the University is collaborating with Lifeline Sydney and Sutherland. Funds raised at this year's Book Fair will fund University projects supported by the Chancellor's Committee and provide Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.

What wonderful worlds: A journey through our Solar System

In this talk we will explore the zoology of our Solar System, from giant planets down to tiny asteroids and comets – key to piecing together the story of our planets and their subsequent evolution. Images and recent results obtained from telescope and spacecrafts by Professor de Pater's group will feature as part of the tour.

Sydney Ideas – Unravelling addiction and the mind

Join Brain and Mind Centre, neuroeconomist Agnieszka Tymula, digital interventions and mental health researcher Louise Thornton, and neuroscientist Morgan James, as they reveal insights into how our brains are wired for risk and reward, and the ways this can work against us in environments with easy access to addictive stimuli such as drugs, nicotine, digital media and games, and more.

The University Governance Office, on behalf of the Chancellor, has received a requisition to summon a meeting of Convocation, along with proposed motions

The Chancellor has referred the matter to the University's Senate for consideration at its next meeting on Friday 25 September. If the Senate resolves to summon a meeting of Convocation, then the meeting will be held within 28 days of Senate's decision, that is, by no later than 23 October 2026. Notice of that meeting will be publicly advertised as required by cl. 13 of the University of Sydney (Amendment Act) Rule 1999, at least 14 days in advance. 

Protected industrial action on 2 September

Any staff that participated in the 2 September protected industrial action is required to notify their absence through workday no later than 5 pm Thursday 10 September to ensure payroll deductions are correctly applied.

We're developing our first Student and Staff Gender Equity Plan and we want to hear from you. Share your experiences and perspectives through a short survey to help shape the priorities and actions that help advance gender equity across our community. The survey closes at 5 pm on Wednesday 9 September.
