Exposing the shark attack industrial complex

As part of Social Science Week, Associate Professor Chris Pepin-Neff will examine and challenge the public's relationship with sharks, the beach, and our own identity. The talk will cover the way social, political, and commercial interests combine to portray all sharks in a one-dimensional manner to generate increased income, tourism, hotel rooms, movie tickets, and political cover.

Updates and services

The NTEU has notified the University that they intend to take industrial action on 2 September.

The University advises that staff who can work from home should do so, subject to a conversation with their manager. The University believes the NTEU's action is premature. While the University respects the right of eligible staff to engage in protected industrial action, the University’s position in Enterprise Agreement negotiations will only change through constructive discussion and good faith bargaining and will not change in response to industrial action.

We acknowledge the tradition of custodianship and law of the Country on which the University of Sydney campuses stand. We pay our respects to those who have cared and continue to care for Country.
