Lessons in Leadership with Deb Willcox

Tuesday 7 October

We're pleased to invite you to our second and final all-FMH-staff Lessons in Leadership this October. We will be joined by special guest Deb Willcox AM, Chief Executive, Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).

Deb will explore the valuable lessons learned on her professional journey, and give us an insight into the day-to-day workings and challenges of a health organisation.

TreeAGE Training Course

Tuesday 14 October – Wednesday 15 October

 

This two-day workshop will offer an introduction and advanced TreeAGE training. TreeAGE is the leading software for health economic modelling, widely accepted by the Australian Government’s Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) and Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC).

 

Those who already use TreeAGE can obtain great benefits from the advanced section, where advanced methodologies will be provided, such as probabilistic sensitivity analysis, value-of-information analysis, and discrete event simulation.

Northern Rivers Disastrous Writing Retreat

Tuesday 14 October – Wednesday 15 October

 

This two-day in-person retreat at UCRH’s Lismore campus is for anyone writing about disasters or climate change, whether you're a grant writer, communicator, academic, or practitioner. It offers dedicated time to write, connect with peers, and join optional peer review sessions. Last year’s retreat inspired new friendships, fresh perspectives, and cross-sector collaborations.

Supporting Student Wellbeing – with Batyr Youth Mental Health

This session with youth mental health specialists, Batyr, is designed to help student-facing staff support their own mental health and that of their students. In this session, staff will gain insights from a young person with lived experience of mental health concerns, and focus on building confidence to create safe, supportive spaces for students. Staff will reflect on their boundaries and roles, explore what is within their control, and learn practical wellbeing strategies for themselves and their students.

Save Sight Institute 13th Annual Community Information Day 2025

The Community Information Day is an annual event hosted by the Save Sight Institute (The University of Sydney) for people living with low vision or blindness and those who care for them.

This event is an opportunity for people in the vision impairment community to connect with each other, share experiences, interact with our exhibitors and their offerings, and learn up-to-date information.

The event is free and will be held in-person on 25 October 2025 (Saturday) at the University of Sydney Business School in the CBD. Catering will be provided on the day.

This year’s signature event, hosted by the John Walsh Centre for Rehabilitation Research, will explore the theme “Mental health, resilience and wellbeing, following injury – What do we know?” The forum will be chaired by Professor Ashley Craig (Head, JWCRR) and Dr Mohit Arora (Deputy Head, JWCRR). Attendees can register to join either in person or online via the link provided.

Updates and services

Voting for staff elections is now open

Voting for staff elections opened on 15 September for a range of staff positions on Academic Board and faculty boards. Staff eligible to vote in these elections will receive an automatically generated email from BigPulse (third party preferential voting software) to their staff email account.

Fast Track Contracts has expanded

Fast Track Contracts has expanded to include research service agreements and consulting agreements. The automated contract system, designed to improve efficiency, offers a simpler approach to low-risk research projects.
