Please join us for a talk by Dr Rose Bagot on 'Novel mechanisms of resilience in the prefrontal cortex' a seminar brought to you by the School of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Rose Bagot is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at McGill University, Montréal, Canada, a Principal Investigator at the Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics and Mental Health and the Tier II Canada Research Chair in Behavioural Neurogenomics. Dr Bagot’s research integrates molecular, synaptic and circuit neuroscience techniques with robust mouse behavioral models to examine how experience alters brain and behaviour. Work in her lab focuses on understanding the neural bases of affective processing and how these are altered in stress-related neuropsychiatric disorders, such as depression and anxiety.

Join us for an exclusive event featuring esteemed Clinician Scientist in Nephrology and Renal Physiology Professor David Cherney, University of Toronto (Canada), as he shares his expertise in the clinical management of Cardio Kidney Disease. He will highlight how our evolving understanding of the pathophysiology of Cardio Kidney disease is translating to changes in clinical practice both now and potentially in the future with the development of new therapeutic approaches. Prof Cherney will also discuss how the evolving scientific evidence in Cardio Kidney disease can be applied to clinical practice and outline key areas of unmet need currently being targeted.

Usher syndrome Type 1B (USH1B), caused by changes in the MYO7A gene, is the leading genetic cause of combined deafness and blindness—affecting 4–17 per 1,000 people. It results in profound hearing loss from birth and progressive vision loss beginning in late childhood to adolescence.
Discover how our team has developed inner ear organoids from a stem cell line derived from a person with USH1B. These organoids are now being used as a powerful model to help develop new treatments for hearing loss.
