What guest functions are available from lectern computers?

On lectern computers, certain software and functions are only available when you log in with your UniKey.

Microsoft Office 365 products are available including PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Some specialised software is also available without logging in, such as R and R Studio. Software that require internet access however (e.g. Zoom) will not work without logging in with your UniKey.

Without logging in, only the University's staff intranet is available. No internet access is available from the lectern guest account.

Request a one-time payment in Workday

Managers and manager support can award an off-cycle one-time payment to a staff member. This can be requested via Workday. 

You may use this process to award the following one-time payments to a staff member: 

Localisation Payment - A payment given to a staff member as part of a relocation package. This payment is subject to statutory withholdings including income tax. 

Retention Payment - Future dated payment provided to a staff member following a set period of time and subject to satisfactory performance in the role. 

Discretionary Bonus - A bonus payment made to a staff member for extraordinary performance that exceeds the requirements of their position and any KPIs that have been agreed for that period as part of their bonus plan participation (if applicable). 

Annual Bonus - A bonus payment made to a staff member who has a bonus potential as part of their remuneration package. 

Performance Progression Payment - A performance payment to a professional staff member who meets the requirements detailed in the Performance Progression Payment Procedures. These payments are now coordinated centrally by Human Resources after the end of the relevant performance year (1 January – 31 December) and are normally delivered in the second available payrun in April following the end of the performance year. Manager’s do not need to process these individually as one time payments in Workday. 

Chief Warden Payment - A payment acknowledging the additional tasks and responsibilities associated with being a Chief Warden.

How to apply for Affiliation with the University of Sydney

An affiliate is an individual, who is not a paid staff member (including casuals) of the University, but who is: 

  • appointed or engaged by the University to perform duties or functions, and/or; 
  • recognised for their contribution to the University (as per Affiliate Policy). 

There are currently different processes that are followed across the University to process Affiliate applications. Work is underway to establish a streamlined process across the University, and will be updated accordingly in the steps below.

Continuing and fixed term staff can apply for leave by submitting a Time Off request in Workday.

  • Study Time (Please refer to the Apply for Study Time article prior to submitting this leave in Workday). 
    Note: When applying for study time, select 'class/attendance leave' under 'other absence types' in Workday to access study time, and then send the study time booking form to HR Service Centre using the email hr.servicecentre@sydney.edu.au 

Eligible casual staff may apply for long service leave and special leave. For instructions on how Casual staff apply for Special leave, please refer to the How do Casual staff members apply for Special Leave? help article available on the Services Portal.

Certain Time Off types can be requested via the Services Portal, including:
