Lectern computer uplift

A collaboration between ICT and the Educational Innovation team has addressed feedback from colleagues to improve the lectern computer experience in the classroom. 

Appearance and technical improvements include:

• To reduce delays in getting started with teaching, staff no longer need to log into their account to access applications on the computer. Staff can open PowerPoint or Zoom or a web browser and log in to these applications only if required. 
• The number of shortcuts on the desktop have been reduced to help staff access the tools most often used for teaching. You will find quick links to PowerPoint, Zoom and other favourites.
• The background/wallpaper has been reformatted with neutral colours to assist visibility and enhance accessibility. The extension to the AV helpdesk is also listed as part of the background. 
• Microsoft Office has been updated to the latest version of the license available.
• Lecterns with reported audio issues have been fixed.
• Rooms with "recording light" problems have been rectified. 

Some ongoing limitations and work:

• Office 365 Applications: Teams and other Office 365 apps are only available via web browser. Applications with Office 365 add-ins must be accessed directly via the web browser at their respective websites.
• Adobe Acrobat Reader: Adobe license limits the ability to edit like the Adobe Creative Cloud Acrobat Pro version.
