Candidature variations

Faculty Services, Division of the Academic Registrar, provide centralised services and support to ensure changes to student candidature are processed consistently and efficiently.

This includes administrative tasks involved in:

  • processing requests from students to temporarily pause their study
  • processing requests from students who wish to transfer to a different course
  • processing requests from students who wish to permanently terminate their candidature
  • managing the Outbound Exchange program to check student eligibility, manage student enrolment and progression, confirm results, update student records, and managing student issues while overseas
  • managing Study Abroad Exchange for award courses completed at an overseas institution as an international full-fee paying student, where credit is applied.  This includes obtaining departmental approval, checking student eligibility, provision of credit and managing student issues while overseas

What’s our role?

  • Receive candidature maintenance requests in Sydney Student and complete eligibility checks.
  • Ensure completeness of submission and follow up with students as required.
  • Complete pre-assessment and provide recommendation to faculty.
  • Forward to faculty for final decision making and follow up / escalate if required for a decision.
  • Complete assessment in line with pre-approved rules / guidelines.
  • Update decision matrix with guidelines provided by faculties.
  • Record decision in Sydney Student.
  • Communicate with the student including responding to any Tier 2 enquiries and assist with Tier 3 enquiries.
  • Provide reporting on decisions to faculty.
  • Manage concurrent enrolments.
  • Specific to Inbound/Study Abroad and Outbound Exchange.
    • Assessment and recommendation.
    • Forward to academic for decision making.
    • Record decision and results in Sydney Student.
