Industry and community project units (ICPUs) are 6 credit point units developed by an academic lead in collaboration with an industry partner.
An industry or community partner creates a brief relating to a problem faced by their organisation. Students then work collaboratively in mixed disciplinary groups to research, analyse and find solutions to the problem. Throughout the project, students have the opportunity to engage with and learn from industry or community experts who will provide helpful information, guidance and feedback on their project.
Students are led by an academic supervisor who help them achieve the learning outcomes of the unit including; developing their skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, cultural competency, presentation skills and developing their own integrated professional, ethical and personal identity.
Students also learn to:
Assessments are based on a combination of group and individual work. Assessment tasks include a group project plan, an individual statement, a group presentation to industry partners and a group report.
Please contact the Associate Director Interdisciplinary & Engaged Learning, Dr Elisabeth Valiente-Riedl if you have further questions about ICPUs.
