At the University of Sydney, we manage our curriculum through both the University Executive, its committees, and the Academic Board and its committees. The information on this page provides the necessary connections to enable and facilitate new curriculum and curriculum changes.
Information pertaining to the curriculum approval process and forms required when submitting proposals for major curriculum initiatives, amendments to existing curriculum, discontinuation of a course or curriculum component, and/or suspension of a course or stream, can be found on the Academic Board SharePoint site.
The Curriculum Approval Timelines are the last date opportunity for specific types of changes to be implemented in time for enrolment. These dates are determined and optimised to take into consideration all internal and external deadlines that impact curriculum development and deployment. These include (but are not limited to): production of domestic and international marketing material; UAC Guide production deadlines; Government reporting requirements; Handbook production timelines; operational needs of the Division of the Academic Registrar such as the Academic Model team; and on-campus recruitment activity timetables.
The Academic Board and UE Strategic Course Portfolio Committee endorses the curriculum approval timelines for subsequent years.
On 26 November 2024, the Academic Board approved the curriculum approval timelines (pdf,272KB) for new and changed curricula to commence in 2026, 2027 and 2028.
The DVCE Curriculum and Quality team have collated the faculty and University school education related committee dates for 2025, as of 13 December 2024.

Microcredentials are managed in accordance with the Continuing and Extra-Curricular Education Policy 2017. Additional information is available here and via the Non Award Subcommittee site.
Please note Sydney Professional Certificates are considered an award course and you'll need to follow the same curriculum approval process as for a new course. Higher Degrees by Research are award courses and you'll need to follow the same process as for a new course. Additional information found on the Graduate Research site.
