University calendars

On this page you can find information about semester and session dates approved by the Academic Standards and Policy Committee, and the University Calendars project, which is delivering changes to how we manage and publish our University calendars.

Semester and Sessions dates 2022 to 2026

Semester and session dates for academic years 2022 through to 2026 were approved by the Academic Board on 8 June 2021, with several amendments since approved by the Academic Standards and Policy Committee, and may be used by internal academic and professional staff for planning purposes. Please note that the dates may be subject to change and will continue to be updated on this page as relevant.

Proposed amendments to the following 2026 dates are currently going through governance processes; updates will be published to the Key Dates site on ASPC approval:

  • Research periods census dates
  • DVM placement session dates
  • NDP placement session dates
  • Early sessions census dates
  • SSAF census dates.

If you have any questions related to governance procedures (including requests for variations to dates) contact the project team for further information. For information relating to policies, refer to Part 3 Section 13 (Teaching periods) of the Learning and Teaching Policy.

University Calendars project

The University Calendars project is an initiative led by the Curriculum team within the Division of the Academic Registrar, delivered in partnership with various teams across the University including ICT, Digital Experience and Communications and faculties.

At the end of 2024, we launched the new Key dates webpage with input from students and staff. The page combines academic and operational dates and allows staff and students to filter the calendar to meet their needs.

In 2025 the project team will implement further improvements to the governance of key dates and academic calendars, and further enhancements to the capture, storage and display of dates. Our 2025 objectives include:

  • Consolidation of a disjointed process
  • Managing operational dates across a five-year period to allow for better institutional planning
  • A revised governance process for improved oversight and consistency
  • Reduction in administrative work with centralised support for the validation and approval of dates
  • Publication of approved calendar dates in student calendars in the Student Portal and Sydney Uni App
