The University introduced guaranteed ATARs for most of our courses to simplify the application process and make it more transparent. It removes the uncertainty about what is required for entry so that students can have the confidence to list their dream course as their first preference.
Domestic applicants applying through UAC with an ATAR/IB (or equivalent qualification) are eligible. Applicants who have not undertaken any tertiary studies are also eligible.
The University will continue to offer alternative admissions pathways to many students.
In 2019, the University introduced mathematics (advanced) as a compulsory admission requirement for a number of undergraduate courses, aligning with a government initiative that mandated mathematics for high school students.
The University has reviewed this requirement, acknowledging that prerequisites may not guarantee proficiency and can be a barrier, especially for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. To increase accessibility of our courses, the mathematics prerequisite will be removed as an admission requirement from a range of courses effective Semester 1 2025 including:
The mathematics prerequisite will be retained for courses in Engineering Honours (including combined degrees), Advanced Computing (including combined degrees) and Pharmacy.
The University will offer individualised and targeted support to commencing students to ensure they have the underpinning knowledge required in mathematics.
